1993 OBITUARY: Paul Coffey was a union organizer, a city councilman, a machinist, a former railroad worker, well-known as a fast-pitch softball player and, later, coach. Raised by his grandfather after his own father's early death, Paul began helping his grandfather deliver huge blocks of ice before the age of 10. Paul achieved small town fame in Zanesville, honored for his community service again and again.
Like his wife Dot, Paul donated his body to Ohio University's medical department, so he has no grave.

2005 OBITUARY: Dot Coffey was the wife of Paul Coffey, a ball player, union organizer, coach, machinist, city councilman and, briefly, Zanesville mayor. Being Paul's wife was a career in itself, but Dot also sold Luzier cosmetic products and, in old age, up through her 80s, helped conduct in-home marketing surveys.
Dot became a follower of Unity thinking while still in her 20s. With no Unity Church available in Zanesville, in her later years she and Paul drove to Columbus, Ohio every Sunday to attend the Unity Church there on Maize Road. With Dot's encouragement (and pride), Paul sat on the board of Unity for several terms in the 1980s and perhaps into the 1990s.
Dot and Paul each donated their bodies to the Ohio University Medical Department. If they had chosen to be buried, Duncan Falls is the place they would have chosen.

2020 OBITUARY: COFFEY, Patrick A, age 74, died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday 4 Feb 2020. A lifelong Baha’I, he was the son of the late Paul and Dorothea Coffey in Zanesville, OH. He proudly served in the US Air Force, rising to the rank of sergeant before being honorably discharged. In the military, he learned the electronics skills he later used in his career in traffic signal maintenance. He was a public servant for over 30 years, serving in Zanesville, Upper Arlington and City of Columbus. He suffered his first traumatic brain injury while working for the City of Zanesville. Although he was thrown 50 feet with no helmet from the top of a bucket truck and suffered nausea and the bright light syndrome typical of traumatic brain injuries, his condition was not diagnosed until decades later when he developed dizziness and suffered numerous additional falls.
He is survived by wife Cynthia Rush Coffey; brother Tim and sister-in-law Ruth Ellen of South Carolina; daughter Lara Coffey of Florida; and numerous cousins.
