1862 OBITUARY: Milton married Emily Caroline Trower on January 6, 1841 in Montgomery County, Kentucky. They were the parents of 9 children that I am aware of; Silas, Emma, John William, Elizabeth, Mary Jane, James Denver, Thomas J., Mariah Gl and Elijah F.. Milton was a farmer and a licensed preacher of the gospel.
"Milton discovered that he had tuberculosis when the older children were small. He prayed that he might live long enough to raise them to be big enough to help their mother make a living. He was a farmer. Milton was helping his brother-in- law, Caleb Reynolds, to clear timber from a 40 acre field about 1 1/4 miles north of Delta, so it could be farmed. He spoke about how restful and beautiful it was there and that when he died he would like to be buried under the tree at the top of the hill. Not too long after this he died and later Caleb gave one more acre of land on the hill-top to be used as a burial ground.
"Milton was buried in the place he had chosen, and the cemetery was named `Garrett Cemetery' for him, he being the first person buried there. A rail fence was constructed to keep cattle and stock from it.
"Later it became a law that no cemetery could be named for a person, so it was changed to 'Oak Hill' and is recorded as this. It is also known as `Delta Cemetery', because it was the only one close to town. Most of the people in Keokuk County know it as `Garrett' Cemetery, and the papers write of it this way also."

1988 OBITUARY: Lucille was born in Delta, Iowa, to Adlai Coke and Alta Ethyl (Beman) Dugger on March 16, 1918. Sadly, she lost her father to the Great Influenza in 1919. Later, her mother married Joseph Monast (#91614340) of Oskaloosa, IA, but a short time later, Alta passed away. Joe Monast was a good father to her and her little half-brother Joe Monast Jr (117340816) but when he later remarried, the new wife (Helena Ilrath Monast #91615982) sent Lucille away to boarding school at Ottumwa Heights Academy until she graduated. Meanwhile, Lucille's half-brother by Alta and Joe, Joseph Monast Jr, stayed with Joe Monast at the new "family" home, along with Helena's daughters by a previous marriage. Lucille's uncle Arvel Beman (#110342661) helped her through secretarial and bookkeeping schools as well as much needed moral support during these rough years.
Lucille met Harry Donald Dillon while they both were working at an Ottumwa, Iowa, theater and they married on Christmas Day eve in 1938. They eventually moved to southern California where Don worked as a representative and test pilot for Consolidated Vultee Corporation. They had moved several times and she received her pilot's license in Texas. She and her friends were known to have flown to not-so-close towns for shopping. Their only child, Donna Lucille, was born in California in 1943.
When Don entered the Army in 1945, they were transferred to many places including Japan twice. Lucille loved the Orient, their people and their cultures. They also were assigned to Puerto Rico where they spent three years. She was an avid bridge card player, a marvelous cook, and enjoyed knitting and entertaining. While in Puerto Rico she helped organize the Ft. Buchanan Thrift Shop with the Women's Club where proceeds helped support military families in need and this opportunity followed her to their next assignments at Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Ft. Riley, KS, and Ft. Bragg, NC. She was the quintessential Army Wife for 23 years and enjoyed every minute of it, except when Don was sent overseas (Japan, Korea, Vietnam).
When Don retired from the Army in 1968, they moved to Reedsport, OR, where she became the bookkeeper for Reedsport Concrete, which they co-owned and operated for several years, and also enjoyed their time together on the Oregon coast.
Lucille passed away just a couple of weeks before their 50th wedding anniversary in 1988, leaving the love of her life, her husband Don, and their only child Donna and husband Joe Polockow and several grandchildren. She was predeceased by a great-grandchild. She also leaves behind her half brother, Joe Monast, Jr of Springfield, MO. (Joe Monast, Jr. passed away in 2013, in OH). Lucille and her loving husband Harry Donald Dillon are buried side by side in Reedsport, OR.
