​     1983 OBITUARY:  Mrs Angie Garriott Hoagland, 81 of New Castle, died Tuesday, July 12, 1983 at the Highland Baptist Hospital, Louisville. She was a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church.

     She is survived by four daughters: Mrs James (Emmy) Cunningham and Mrs Maurice (Jane) Perkinson, both of New Castle, Mrs Luther (Ann) Calloway, Leesburg, Georgia and Mrs Lee (Frances) Agee, Lexington; six sons: Roy C Hoagland, Jr., Middletown, James D Hoagland, Route 1, Smithfield, John G Hoagland, New Castle, Jerry P Hoagland, Route 1, Smithfield, Dr Larry Hoagland, Anchorage and Morton M Hoagland, Danville; twenty-two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services were held at 11 am Thursday, July 14th from Prewitt's New Castle. Rev Fred Coburn, pastor of Assembly of God Church, Danville, officiated, assisted by Rev Barclay Brown, pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

​     1997 OBITUARY: Jerry Penn Hoagland, Sr, age 66, passed away Friday, September 19, 1997 in LaGrange. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Monday, September 22, 1997 at Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle. Rev Jerry Stanley, pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev Bob Hanses. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

     2004 OBITUARY: Roy C Hoagland, Jr, age 85, of Middletown, died Friday, December 3, 2004 at his residence. He was a retired carpenter for Hatton Construction Company, a US Army Air Corps Veteran from WW2 and a Methodist by faith.
     He is survived by four children: Mary Pat MacMahan, Roy Keith Hoagland, Jody Hoagland and Roy C Hoagland III; three sisters; three brother; seven grandsons and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Hoagland, two brothers and one sister.
     Funeral services were held Monday, December 6, at 11 am at Heady-Willhite-Ballard Funeral Home, Middletown. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery.

     2005 OBITUARY: Peggy Rodgers Hoagland, age 70 of LaGrange died Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the Hospice Center at Baptist Northeast. She was a member of Buckner Baptist Church and daughter of the late Beaufort and Fidelia Wilson Rodgers.
     She is survived by one daughter, Mrs Tom (Julie) Stewart, LaGrange; three sons: Jerry Hoagland, Jr, Eminence; Randy Hoagland, Atlanta, Georgia; Roger Hoagland, Erlanger; three sisters: Sylvia Rodgers, LaGrange; Elizabeth Schulte, Ballardsville; Kathy Kramer, Dothan, Alabama; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Penn Hoagland, Sr.
     Funeral services were held at 2 pm Sunday, August 7 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Bro Rick Davidson, Pastor of LaGrange Baptist Church officiated.      2006 OBITUARY: Jane Hoagland Perkinson, age 77 of New Castle, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Roy C and Angie Garriott Hoagland, member of the New Castle United Methodist Church, member of the United Methodist Women, and former secretary for the state highway department for 20 years.
     She is survived by two sisters: Mrs Luther (Ann) Calloway, Leesburg, Georgia; Mrs Henry (Frances) Howard, Lexington; three brothers: James D Hoagland, Pendleton; Dr Larry Hoagland, Louisville; Morton M Hoagland, Danville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurie Perkinson.
     Funeral services were held at 11 am Saturday, January 7 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev Garry Polston, pastor of New Castle United Methodist Church officiated. Interment was in New Castle Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Hoagland, Stephen A Hoagland, Roy Chancellor Hoagland, Jerry Penn Hoagland, Lee C Agee, IV and Roger Hoagland.

​     2012 OBITUARY: Larry Hoagland, OD, 77, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East. 
Son of the late Roy C and Angie Lee (Garriott) Hoagland, he was a native of New Castle, KY in Henry County, KY. Larry was a US Army veteran and a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. He practiced optometry in St Matthews from 1962 until 2009. He was an elder in the Community of Christ Church in Jeffersontown. He was a life member of the UK Alumni Association, life member of the Filson Club Historical Society, charter member of Henry County Historical Society, Masonic Lodge #189 in New Castle, American and Kentucky Optometric Associations, ACLU and several other organizations to help the poor and disadvantaged.
     Larry was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Lee Cunningham and Jane H Perkinson; and four brothers, Roy C Hoagland, James D Hoagland, John G Hoagland and Jerry Penn Hoagland.
     He is survived by his wife, Doris (Freeman) Hoagland, of Louisville; two sons, James M Hoagland (Keven) and Stephen A Hoagland (Carol), all of Louisville; sisters, Ann Calloway, of Charlotte, NC and Frances Howard (Henry), of Lexington; brother, Morton M Hoagland (Joyce), of Danville, KY; and three granddaughters, Amy, Allison and Emily.
     Funeral service: 3 pm Saturday at Community of Christ Church in Jeffersontown, officiated by Pastor David Blair. A private interment in New Castle Cemetery will be held at a later date. Visitation: 5-8 pm Friday at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home and 10 am Saturday at Community of Christ Church in Jeffersontown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community of Christ Church at 2401 Merriwood Dr., Jeffersontown, KY 40299.

     2017 OBITUARY: Sue (Powell) Hoagland, age 87 of New Castle, was called home by the Lord on Wednesday evening, November 15, 2017 at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville. Daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Clara Louise (Forquer) Powell, she was a long-time secretary for New Castle Elementary School. She was a faithful member of New Castle United Methodist Church, a member of Homemakers and served as a volunteer at Baptist Hospital in LaGrange after her retirement. She enjoyed shopping for antiques and travelling with her siblings to the SEC Basketball Tournament, always rooting for Big Blue. Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John G Hoagland; a sister, Ann Cravens; and brother, AJ Powell.
     Survived By Sons: Gary P Hoagland (Jo Anne Collins) of New Castle, and John W (Tracy) Hoagland of Lexington; Sisters: Joan Rains of Louisville, and Gene Kirkpatrick of Russellville; Sister-in-Law: Janie Powell of Lexington; Brother-in-Law: Ray Cravens of Bowling Green, and Many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins
     Memorial Service: 2 pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, officiated by Rev Garry Polston of Eminence. A private inturnment in New Castle Cemetery will be at a later date. Form of contributions may be given to New Castle United Methodist Church at PO Box 233; New Castle, KY 40050. Visitation: 11 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.
