BIOGRAPHY: Ed Barrickman was a good student who liked history. He was patriotic too, an "unreconstructed rebel." He taught school in Mississippi for a while, then joined the Oklahoma Land Rush into Indian territory. He rode across Oklahoma from the Kansas line finding a 160 acre land grant near Frederick, OK. He volunteered for service in WW1 and served in Florida. When he returned to Oklahoma, oil speculators had discovered oil and had gotten possession of his land. After an unsuccessful court battle, he went to Arkansas and tried wildcatting in the Smackon Field.
