     1993 OBITUARY: Minnie R Johnson, 83, died Tuesday, Aug 31, 1993, at Stillwater Nursing Home. Graveside services will be Thursday, Sept 2, 1993, at Elm Grove Cemetery southwest of Stillwater under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The Johnson family will be in charge of the memorial service.
     Mrs Johnson was born Dec 18, 1909 near Perkins to L Paul and Elsie (Wilson) McNabb. She attended school at Elm Grove School and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1929. She married Raymond A Johnson in Perry on Jan 30, 1932. They lived in the Perkin and Stillwater area except for 1953-54 when they lived in Raleigh, NC.
     Mrs Johnson was a life-long member of the Lost Creek United Brethren Church. She taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School secretary and as financial secretary and was active in the Women's Missionary Society. She was a charter member of the Elm Grove Extension Homemakers Club. She also served on the election board of the Elm Grove precinct for several years. She was predeceased by her father in 1955, her mother in 1976, her sister, Inez McNabb, in 1985 and her husband in 1987.
     Survivors include three sons, Raymond P Johnson of Dallas, Texas, Gerald L Johnson and his wife, Barbara, of Olathe, KS, and Larry E Johnson and his wife, Charlotte, of Stillwater; six grandchildren, Lisa Padillo, Gene Johnson and Wynn Johnson, all of Stillwater, Teresa Brumbaugh of Olarhe, KS, Anne Clouse and her husband, Chris, of Junction City, KS, and Trent Johnson, who is currently living in China; and four great grandchildren, Brandi Brumbaugh of Olathe, KS, Liane Bastion of Stillwater and Kennedy and Jackson Clouse of Junction City, KS.

     MILITARY: William Thomas Wilson enlisted 1 Jun 1861, Putnam Co, MO, in Company B, 18th MO Volunteers for three years. He mustered in as Corporal on 14 Nov 1861, Camp Morgan to serve 3 years. In Jan and Feb 1864 he is reported as Sergeant and reenlisted as a veteran at Culleoka?, TN for 3 more years. He died of wounds received accidentally, "Inventory of effects reports him died in 4th Division, 16th AC Hospital in the Field near Atlanta, GA, Aug 6th 1864, by reason of wound in his leg inflicted by musket ball."
     In a book titled "Ina" letters to his wife were published where he mentions, in Nov 1861, that he and Martha had only been married 5 months.

     WIDOW'S PENSION: Martha Wilson 21, applied for a pension [appl 192.092] on 20 Jun 1865, stating she was a resident of Ayresville, Putnam Co, MO and the widow of William T Wilson, and that they had a 3-year old son, Thomas Milton Wilson and that her maiden name was Martha Ann Garriott. She also stated that her marriage was witnessed by Nancy Ellen Leighton and William Leighton, residents of Howard Township, Wayne Co, IA.
