     David R was the son of James Owens and Sarah/Sally "Broshears." Sarah/Sally Broshears was the daughter of Hannah Owens and Thomas Broshears. I believe that Hannah and James were siblings, children of Indiana Trader John Owens of Washington Co PA.      2005 OBITUARY: Virginia Lee Owens Moncrief: Daughter of the late Charles Owens and Irene Holmes. She married John Leland Moncrief on November 9, 1940, in Enid, Garfield County, OK. She worked at Central National Bank in Enid for 16 years. She was a past Matron of the Great Eastern Star. She was survived by her husband of 65 years; two daughters; one sister; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral held 10/29/2005 with The Rev John McLemore officiating.

     2007 OBITUARY: John L Moncrief entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Monday, Aug 6, 2007, at his home in Brownsville, TX. He was born Dec 31, 1919, in Red Rock, OK to Harrison D and Frances A. Osborne Moncrief, who preceded him in death. He had one sister, Fay Curby, who also preceded him in death. John married Virginia Lee Owens Nov 9, 1940, in Enid, OK. She preceded him in death Oct 26, 2005, after 65 years of marriage.
     Mr. Moncrief graduated from Billings, OK High School and attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College at Tonkawa, OK. He was a veteran of World War 2 where he served as a T/Sgt. Flight Engineer in the Army Air Corp. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and Central Christian Church of Enid. He served as mayor of Billings, OK in 1953. He retired from Champlin Refining Co in 1982. He was a resident of Palm Resaca Park in Brownsville, TX for 28 years.
     Left to cherish his memory is his loving family, two daughters Carole and Keith Spencer of Cedar Falls, IA and Brownsville, TX and Joyce and Harris Gray of Locust Grove, OK; four grandchildren, Patti Davis of Olathe, KS, John and Cindy Spencer of Cedar Falls, IA, Pam and Chris Elliott of Peggs, OK, and Cyndi Washburn of Locust Grove, OK; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Krystina and Ashley Elliott and Mysti Mapp; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug 11, 2007, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, Enid, OK from 11:30 am to 1:45 pm. A graveside service will be 2 pm at the Garden Chapel in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, OK. Rev John McLemore will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
