     1ST MARRIAGE: Ruth may have been married before her marriage to Charles H Maston: reference 1940 Calhoun Co, MI census below. Some of the names do not match, but the dates and places are right on. The errors lead me to believe the census taker was less than astute.

     CENSUS:
     1940 Calhoun Co, MI census: has Lawton E Brown 21, b. IN, Attendant-Filling Station; Ruth E Brown 23, b. IN, Canner-Food Dept; Joseph Blankenship 67, b. VA, (Father-in-Law?); Minnie Blankenship 62, b. IL, (Mother-in-Law?) All four lived in rural Jasper Co, IN in 1935. Lawton Brown 11, lived with his grandmother Mary Brown 62 in 1930 Jasper Co, IN census. In 1920 Jasper Co, IN census Lawton Brown 1, lived with his mother Mary Brown 52 and three older siblings, all b. IN.

     2ND MARRIAGE: Charles 2nd married Carole WREED, about 1974 in Sidney, Shelby Co, OH, lived in Piqua, Miami Co, OH. Her parents lived in Nebraska.

     2006 OBITUARY: Ruth Evelyn (Blankenship) Maston was born March 11, 1917, in Jasper County, Indiana, to James M and Minnie Alice (Huber) Blankenship. She was the youngest of eleven children who survived to adulthood, all of whom are now deceased. In 1943 she married Charles H Maston who died in 2000.
     She is survived by four children: Randi Richardson, of Spencer, Indiana, Maryanne Wilcox of Harris, Minnesota: Rosie Erskine Lamrhari of Greenville, North Carolina, and Jeremiah MacLaren of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Two addiional children, Robert Kenton and Kimberly Eileen did not survive infancy.
     In her younger days, and well into her 70's Ruth was energetic and displayed a real zest for life. She enjoyed travel, volleyball, and was active with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Chandler, North Carolina where she lived for many years.
     Ruth passed away on Friday, October 13, 2006 at the Owen Valley Health Campus where she had been living since 2005 after suffering from the complications of diabetes for many years. Several members of her family were present at the time of her death. Her cremains will be buried alongside her parents at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in North Carolina.
