     1965 OBITUARY: Dale Matson West, who had made his home in Chico since 1956, died at his residence on Oak Park Avenue Saturday. West was born in Fall River, Kansas, on September 25, 1902, and following his early schooling had farmed in the Middle West for several years.He then became employed by the Kansas State Road Department and was with them as foreman 17 years prior to moving to Chico and establishing his home.
     West is survived by his wife, Mrs Edna F West of Chico; and the following children: Elmo "Mo" West of Oroville, Franklin Leroy West of Corning, Mrs Myra J Rashid and Gerald G West both of Sacramento, Sadie I West, Vesta S, Stanford M, Mrs Anna E Clark, Mrs Mabel I Williams and Ellen L West, all of Chico; 10 grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: VC Whaley, a half-brother of Independence, Kan; Mrs Goldie Laycom of Augusta, Kan; Emory M Whaley, a half-brother of Napa; and a half-sister, Mrs Mary Mason of North Sacramento.
     West was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Chico, and the funeral services will be conducted in the church, which is located on 5th and Esplanade, Tuesday at 3 pm. Interment will take place in the Garden of Devotion at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Brusie Funeral Home prior to services,
