     1919 WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT:
Mr Walter Garriott and Miss Jewel Taylor were united in marriage at El Dorado Kansas, on Tuesday, May 6th. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs Charles Garriott, and is one of our successful young farmers.  The bride is the daughter of Mrs Fred Larson.  The young couple have lived in this vicinity for a number of years and have a large number of friends who will join the Star in extending congratulations and best wishes...

     1924 SUICIDE: Walter Garriott, 4 miles NW of Fall River shot and killed himself Wednesday. He had been in poor health. Body sent to Fredonia and a short funeral service will be at the grave in Fredonia Cemetery.

     2009 OBITUARY: Melvina May Donart "Mel" passed away at Ashley Manor Care Facility in Klamath Falls, OR on Feb. 18, 2009, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. She was 86. At her request, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation was performed at Eternal Hills Crematory.
     Melvina was born April 26, 1922, in Peoria, Ill., to Claude and Grace (Ferguson) Rogers. She was raised there and in Indiana through the Great Depression, where she would proudly tell you, "She learned how to survive." At the outbreak of World War II, she met and married Dale Leonard at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. While he was at war, she moved to and worked as the cashier for the California Hotel and then as the Gallo Family nanny in Fresno, Calif. It was here that her first child, Vicky, was born. She then moved to Washington and began work as the postmaster of the Bremerton Naval Base post office.
     After World War II, the marriage ended in divorce and she moved to Seattle, where she met and married Winston Donart and Toni and Patrick were born. They moved to Huntington Park, CA, where Mel found work in security as a receptionist, and as a secretary for the aerospace industry. This led to a position as a graphic designer and word processor for the California Chancellor's office in Long Beach, CA. Upon retirement she moved to Reno, NV, and then Klamath Falls to be near her family. Mel was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Moose Lodge and the Democratic Central Committee. She enjoyed singing, dancing, fishing, reading, and "trips to Reno." She was also a wonderful gardener and was very fond of her pets. She was a very loving, caring, independent woman and had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed.
     Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Julie Donart of Klamath Falls, daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Randall Cloud of Camano Island, WA, daughter, Antoinette Frazier of Tigard, OR., grandchildren, Rebecca, Willis, Andrea, Charyl, Christopher, Brandy, Michael, Joshua and Scott, great-grandchildren, Timothy, Korina, Cody, Jordan, Jacob, Jacqueline, McKayl, Chelsea, Carter and Chandler, great-great-grandchildren McKinley, Paige, Kate, Harry, Hannah, Ashley, and Joe. Sister, Patricia Kizer of Texas and sister-in-law, Mary Rogers of Georgia She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leonard Rogers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Klamath Humane Society, 500 Miller Island Road, Klamath Falls, OR 97603 or to a charity of the donor's choice. Eternal Hills Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

     2011 OBITUARY: Rex (Garriott) served in WWII in the U.S. Army in Luzon, Philippine Islands. He enjoyed being with friends and family, traveling, boating on Lake Shasta, dancing and horses! He retired from the trucking business in 1992.
     His wife, Marie, and eight children survive him. Four sons, Barney Garriott of Bend, Oregon; Marty Garriott, Springfield, Oregon; Phil Garriott, Littleton, Colorado, and Mike Satron, Portland, Oregon; four daughters, Rexene Santos of Roseburg, Oregon; Francie Davis of Roseburg; Sherry Jarman of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, and Susan Meyer of Grants Pass. Seventeen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
