     1930 Lake Co, IN census: has (all b. IL) Ogle Wright 29, Laborer-Construction Wk; Bessie Wright 30; Ivan Wright 8; and Clyde Wright 2-4/12.

     HER 1ST MARRIAGE: Helen was first married to Ivan Millard WRIGHT [b. 22 Nov 1921, Oblong, Crawford Co, IL; d. 20 Apr 1944, England-- age 22, bur. Oblong Cemetery] on 14 Dec 1941, Lake Co, IN.
     He enlisted on 12 Sep 1942 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL- a resident of Crawford Co, IL. He was described as 70" tall, 142 pounds, married. He enlisted for the duration of the war, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the president or otherwise according to law. He had a grammar school education, was semiskilled in the occupations of mechanical treatment of metals (rolling, stamping, forging, pressing, etc).
     He was a radio gunner on a B27 and was killed when his plane crash-landed in England on 20 Apr 1944. He was assigned to the infantry of the Medical Corps that was involved in the Normandy invasion and the bombing of the Russian Polinsky (sic) oilfields. He was the son of Ogle Wright and Bessie Brownfield of Hammond, IN. A daughter was born of this marriage, SHARON WRIGHT WALKER, above.

     BIOGRAPHY: Dean worked at the Steel Mills in Gary, Indiana, and was an Indiana farmer before moving to Iowa in 1957. In Iowa he rented 1,200 acres that he and Helen farmed together in Graettinger.

     MILITARY: Dean was a Communications Chief 542 and served in Normandy, northern France, the Rhineland, and central Europe. His discharge papers describe him as 6', 160#, blue eyes, brown hair.
