     1936 BAPTISM: Margaret Renfroe was baptized at the Baptist Church in Columbus, Muscogee Co, GA in 1936.

     1946 BASEBALL SEASON: Virgil Cecil Garriott made his major league baseball debut on 4 Sep 1946, at the age of 30, with the Chicago Cubs. He was a pitch hitter, batting left and throwing right. He was 5'-9", weighed 165#, was one of six players from Millikin University to play in the major leagues. He played one season.

     1952 NEWSPAPER ARTICLE: GARRIOTT SIGNED TO BOSS TYREES. Victoria, BC, Dec 4, CP. Victoria Tyrees of Western International Baseball league have signed player-manager Cece Garriott for another season.
     Business Manager Reg Patterson announced from Phoenix where both were attending meetings of National Association of Minor Leagues, that Garriott had signed a contract and will return to attempt to pilot Tyrees to their second straight Western International league title.

     1997 OBITUARY: Larry Don "Luke" Luckenbill, 60, of Canon City, died Sept. 6, 1997, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He most recently worked for the Canon City Police Department. His mother and stepfather, Maveline and John Ralph, live in Decatur and his father is deceased. Mr Luckenbill served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid hunter, motorcyclist and outdoorsman.

     2018 OBITUARY: Ronald C Garriott, age 77, died on Friday, March 23, 2018 at his home in Chula Vista, CA, surrounded by family. He was born in Macon, Georgia to Virgil and Margaret (Renfroe) Garriott. He was the oldest of 3 children. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter Jennifer. At age 5, Ronald moved to Los Angeles, California with his family where his dad played baseball. He was the bat boy on his dad minor league team the Angels. He graduated from Gardenia High School. After high school the “racing bug” bit Ron. The father and son racing team finished in 21st position in 1959; and in 1960 "rocketed into 9th spot" in the California Jalopy Association Championship. He later joined the US Army. After completing basic training, he went on to complete Airborne training, where he enjoyed jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division where he proudly served. Ronald is survived by his wife of 38 years Karen, his daughter Margaret and his sisters Barbara Juneau and Linda Rhoutsong. Ronald will be remembered for his joy of life and his love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
