1967 OBITUARY; Ceres Woman Dies at 90 After Lengthy Illness. Malinda Jane Garriott, 90, of Ceres died yesterday in a Ceres nursing home after a long illness. A native of Montague, TX, she had lived in Ceres 30 years and was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors are five children, Hattie Elliott and Hugh Garriott, both of Modesto, Eulline Burgess and Willard Talbert (?), both of Ceres, and Norman Garriott of Edcouch, TX; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday in Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Ceres Cemetery.

1972 OBITUARY: Monte Alto-- Charles Norman Garriott, 75, died at 10:20 pm Sunday pm after a long illness. He was a retired pumper for Hidalgo and Willacy Counties Water District 1 and was a resident of the Delta area since 1935. Before becoming associated with the water district, he was a farmer in the Hargill area. He was a native of Madison Co, AR.
Survivors include the widow Mrs Blanch Garriott; three daughters, Mrs Ray James of Monte Alto, Mrs Clayton Westbrook of Harlingen and Mrs Bob Saterlee of Chanute Air Force Base, IL; a son Charles Garriott of Baggs?, CA and 14 grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs Hattie Elliot of Modesto, CA, Mrs Edward Talbert and Mrs John Burgess, both of Ceres CA; and a brother, Hugh Garriott of Modesto. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. They will be announced by McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.

2012 OBITUARY: Donald Lee Garriott (October 4, 1937 - June 17, 2012) Bonham-Graveside services for Donald Lee Garriott, age 74 of Ravenna, TX will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Sandy Cemetery. Bro James Moody will officiate the service. Mr Garriott passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.
Donald Lee Garriott was born on October 4, 1937 in Modesto, CA to Roland and Artie Bell (Dodd) Garriott. He married Ella Houstalene (St John) Garriott on June 7, 1957 in Reno, NV. Donald served in the United States Army, and was a long time member of Sandy Baptist Church. He is survived by Wife-Ella Garriott of Ravenna, TX; Son-Mitchell Ray Garriott of Ravenna, TX; Grandchildren-Michael William Garriott, and Melissa Reigel; and Great grandchild Lilly Reigel.

MILITARY:23 Hugh [US 39.762.443] enlisted on 25 Jan 1946, Ft MacArthur, CA. He was discharged on 5 Mar 1947, Ft Ord, CA, the date of his death. Hugh died from multiple injuries sustained when the army truck which he was driving overturned. The finding of a Board of Officers determined that death was not in line of duty and was due to his own misconduct.
PENSION:23 Hugh's mother, Goldie, as beneficiary of his military insurance policy, filed a claim [XC-6.223.829] for compensation due to service in the active military of the United States. She was denied anything beyond the insurance award.
