     1918 OBITUARY: Fielding Vories Meek was born April 8, 1899, the youngest of 10 children. He still lived with his parents at the family home near Smithfield when he entered the military service as a conscientious objector and was assigned to the Medical Corps. Soon after receiving his training, he was sent to France. Private Meek was killed while helping remove the wounded from the battlefield in France- five days before the Armistice was signed. A body was eventually returned and is buried in the Smithfield Cemetery, although it was never actually known by the family if the body returned was that of their son.

     1952 OBITUARY: Clarence Strother Meek, 59, Smithfield, was found dead about 10am Thursday. Deputy Coroner Ralph Willhite pronounced the death a suicide and blamed ill heath.
     He is survived by his wife: Mrs Mary Emily Price Meek; one son: Clarence Price Meek, Smithfield; four sisters: Mrs Della Douglas, LaGrange, Mrs Nannie Barker, San Antonio, TX, Mrs Flora Scherbaur and Mrs Don Caster, both of Dayton, OH; two brothers: Bryan Meek and George Meek, both of Smithfield.
     Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 pm Saturday at the grave in the Smithfield Cemetery. Rev George Perger, pastor of the Smithfield Methodist Church, officiated.

     1981 OBITUARY: William Bryan Meek, 84 of Smithfield, died Wednesday, April 15th at his residence after an illness. He was a retired farmer and real estate broker: former member of the Smithfield Methodist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

     He is survived by his wife, Mrs Margaret Morgan Meek, Smithfield; two daughters, Mrs Maurice (Louise) Wilson, Ballardsville and Mrs. Maurice (Ruth) Clark, Smithfield; one son: William S Meek, Buffalo, NY; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

     Funeral services were held 10 am Friday, April 17 from Prewitt's, New Castle. Rev Donald Ross, Pastor of the Smithfield Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was at the Smithfield Cemetery.

     Casketbearers were Clayton Puckett, William Morgan, Clarence Price Meek, Robert Morgan, Harold Doane and Donnie Morgan.

     1990 OBITUARY: Mrs Margaret M Meek, age 92, of Smithfield, died Sunday, February 18, 1990 at the Friendship Manor Home, Pewee Valley. She was a member of the Smithfield Christian Church.
     She is survived by two daughters: Mrs Louise Wilson, Smithfield and Mrs Maurice (Ruth) Clark, Route 1, Smithfield; one son: William S Meek, Buffalo, NY; one sister: Mrs Maude Byers, Pleasureville; one brother: Mr Jesse H Morgan, Smithfield; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services were held at 10 am Wednesday, February 21st at the Prewitt Funeral Home, Eminence. Rev Connie Perry, Pastor of the Smithfield Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev Jean Edge, Lexington. Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.

     2012 OBITUARY: Meek, Evelyn Keiran, 102, of Louisville, died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Mt Holly Golden Living Center. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church since 1975, and she was a retired telephone operator from AT&T.

     She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Meek; and three loving nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Fro Meek.

     Her funeral Mass will be 10 am Thursday at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 pm Wednesday at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road.
