     2002 OBITUARY: On June 22, 2002 in Chantilly, VA, JOHN K LOIGNON. Husband of Anne Loignon, he is also survived by his children, Lucy, Marcy and Spud; his father, Richard Loignon; his mother, Mackensie Blu, and one sister, Kelly Loignon. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 25, from 4 to 8 pm at Advent Funeral Services, 7211 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA, where services will be held on Wednesday, June 26, at 7:30 pm.

     Wall of Honor: John Kevin Loignon (1964-2002). An engineer with the National Security Agency, John had a second career as a flight instructor at Leesburg Airport, and began a third career in 2000 as a J41 First Officer with Atlantic Coast Airlines at Washington Dulles International Airport. John's contribution to aviation was instilling his passion for flying in others. This memorial is a testament to the lives of all the pilots, flight instructors, and students he touched. A patient, understanding instructor and friend, John's enthusiasm for aviation was contagious and lives on in those he inspired to achieve their own aviation dreams.


     2002 OBITUARY: JOHN KEVIN LOIGNON, NSA Computer Engineer and Pilot.

John Kevin Loignon, 38, a National Security Agency computer engineer since the early 1990s who also was a plot, and flying instructor at local airfields, died Jun 22 at him home in Chantilly. He had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

     Mr Loignon became a pilot in 1994,.He was a flight instructor at Lee Airport in Annapolis from 1999 to 2000, and at AV-ED Flight School at Leesburg Executive Airport since 1990. Since 2000, he was a co-pilot for Atlantic Coast Airlines based at Dulles International Airport.

     He was born in Groton, Conn, to a military family and spent his teenage years in Fairbanks, Alaska. At the University of Alaska, he received bachelor's degrees in computer science and mathematics. He was on the university's cross-country ski team and tried out for the US Olympic cross-country ski team for the 1988 Winter Games.

     He moved to the Washington area in the late 1980s and became a systems engineer at Mitre Corp in McLean. In the 1990s, he taught computer science at Johns Hopkins University.

     Survivors include his wife of six years, Anne Salsbury Loignon of Chantilly; his father, Richard Loignon, a retired Navy senior chief petty officer, of Henderson, NV, his mother Mackensie Blu of Murfreesboro, TN; and a sister.
