BIOGRAPHY: Gilbert was a skilled craftsman-- he worked well with wood and built many fine pieces. He enjoyed fishing and art. He painted many pictures, mostly of places in Kentucky he had special feelings about. He was a strong family man-- family meant everything to him. He worked for his son Allen for many years-- in his cabinet shop, as well as other essential chores. He suffered from diabetes, which eventually caused deterioration and death. At his funeral, "My Old Kentucky Home," was played.
Helen came from a musical family-- she began teaching piano young and taught for 65 years, with her children and most of her grandchildren as students.
