     2004 OBITUARY: Leo Orr Garriott "The Ramrod" Portage Please note change in funeral arrangements Leo Orr "The Ramrod" Garriott, age 93 of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2004. Leo was born on January 27, 1911 in Rensselaer, IN, the son of Carter and Leota (Burns) Garriott. A Portage resident since 1932, Leo was married to Emma T Kelofchak on May 24, 1934 in Gary and she preceded him in death on September 14, 1981. Leo was a retired supervisor in the Tractor Shop of US Steel for 42 years and was well known as "The Ramrod". Leo was a founding member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 9114, the Porter County Right to Life, the International Order of Foresters and the National Rifle Association, a founding member of the local Steel Workers Union and was politically active. His greatest enjoyment was playing with the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

     Leo is survived by his loving family: his son, Richard (Christine) Garriott of Kissimmee, FL; his daughter, Sandra Watts of Michigan City, IN; grandchildren: Robin Moon of Gila, NM, Dawn Sullivan of Lake Station, IN, Eric (Donna) Watts of Plymouth, IN, Penny (Paul) Guckenbuger of Greencastle, IN, Rick Martin, Mick Martin, Jamie Martin and Jimmie Martin; great grandchildren: Linda Puckett, Ricky Good, Joseph Sullivan, Jr., Jeremiah Good, Stephen Sullivan, Robert Good, Janessa Moon, Natalie Garriott, Russell Garriott, Sydney Guckenbuger and Samantha Guckenbuger; great-great grandchildren: Ashley Kazen, Jordan Sullivan, Ariel Puckett, Hailee Good, Aubrey Good and Linnette Sullivan; sister, Bernice Garriott of Hobart, IN; grandsons-in-law, Jeffrey Moon and Joe Sullivan, and other loving family and dear friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Emma and his grandson Russell Garriott in October, 1999. Visitation for Leo Garriott will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, with a Rosary Service at 3:00 pm at Engel Funeral Home, 2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage, IN. Funeral services will be on Saturday, DIRECTLY at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage, with viewing from 9:15 am until the time of Mass at 10:00 am, with Father Walter Rakoczy officiating.
