     1940 OBITUARY: Mrs Carter Garriott, sister of Mrs Grover Mackey and Glen Burns, whose lifetime until 14 years ago was spent in the Aix community, died at her home in Hobart Tuesday. Her death resulted from Streptococci infection, thought to have developed from a throat abrasion caused by a fish bone.
     Mrs Garriott was the daughter of Charles and Emily Burns, for many years resident of the Aix community. She was born at Aix fifty five years ago, and that community remained her place of residence until fourteen years ago, since which time she has lived in Gary and Hobart, Indiana. Her husband, seven children, three brothers and three sisters are the immediate survivors. The children are: Mrs Marie Brouhard, Mrs Opal Maher, Leonard, Leo, Berniece, Russell and Genevieve.
     Funeral services will be held at the Hobart Methodist Church at two o'clock, Thursday, Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery.

     1947 OBITUARY: Carter Garriott, former resident of Jasper County, passed away on Friday October 3, 1947, after a serious operation at the Methodist Hospital in Gary, Indiana. He spent his boyhood at Blackford and Aix, Indiana and on June 12, 1900 he was united in marriage with Leota Burns. To this union were born ten children, three of whom died in infancy. The family resided in Jasper County until 1925 when they moved to Gary. His parents preceded him in death, his mother Etta died in 1886, and his father Melville died in 1937. For a few years the family resided in Hobart and while living there he lost his beloved wife and companion Leota, on Jun 18, 1940.
