1944 OBITUARY: OP Garriott Dies in Texas: Funeral Services To Be Held Here Tuesday At Maupin Funeral Home. Funeral services for OP Garriott, 57, of Steedman, who died Friday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Maupin Funeral Home here. Burial will be at Steedman and services will be conducted by the Reverend CC Riley.
Mr Garriott was born July 11, 1886 in Kentucky. He had been a railroad mechanic with the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad for many years and had been ill only two weeks before he died. He underwent an operation at the Baylor Hospital on April 22, and died five days later. He is survived by his widow and a daughter, Mrs Virginia Osbourne of Washington, DC.
2008 OBITUARY: Florence F Mealy, 91, of Fulton, died Wednesday, October 27, 2008 at the Presbyterian Manor in Fulton. She was born June 23, 1917 in Steedman, the daughter of Frank and Golda (Garriott) Farley. She married Floyd Mealy and he preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by a son, Delbert (Barbara) Mealy of Holts Summit, a daughter, Janett (Walter) Miller of Mokane, one brother, Nobel Wilson Farley of St. Louis, five grandchildren, Rhonda (Dale) Tate of Fulton, Randy (Karen) Miller of Ashland, Roger (Sharon) Miller of Mokane, Robert (Annette) Miller of Steedman and Lois (Chris) Gutierrez of Kansas City, seventeen great-grandchildren, Teresa (Ryan) Arrowood, Crystal (Brad) Laughlin, Kyle Miller, Kara Miller, David Miller, Kevin Miller, Tonya Miller, Ashley Miller, Alaney Grace Miller, Bradley Miller, Stacy Miller, Trevor Miller and Grace Miller, Madison Gutierrez of Kansas City and Karissa Autenrieth of Independence, Brooke Davis of St. Louis and Hollie Davis of Columbia, three great-great-grandchildren, Konner Arrowood, Reagan and Braydon Laughlin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandchild, Lisa Davis-Clack, four brothers and three sisters.
Florence was an employee of the Fulton State Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Steedman Womans Sunshine Club and a member of OES. Florence was a leader for the 4H Club and also enjoyed gardening, fishing, quilting and traveling.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at the Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Clyde Garriott officiating. Burial will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Portland or to the Steedman Methodist Church.
