BIOGRAPHYThe following article was written by Harry Garriott and Olive Gablehouse:
Clarence, Simeon Garriott's eldest son, was born in Indiana in 1904, moving to Canada in 1910 with the family. He obtained schooling at Crowfoot School, and agricultural training at the School of Agriculture in Gleichen.
He worked on the family farm until 1928, when he married Irene Peterson of Namaka. The following year he rented the half section farm of Mr D McPherson of Edmonton. This was on the Rockyford road, on the east side and one mile north of the No. One highway. I think it was raw pairie land when Mr McPherson had purchased it from the CPR in 1917. Clarence remembers one time finding a sheep on its back in a buffalo trail on this land and pulling it out to let it go. They lived on this farm for fourteen years.
They then moved to High River, where they built a house and lived for about twenty years. Their next move was to Sherwood park, near Edmonton. There they lived for seven years, where Clarence worked for the county of Stathcona (Vancouver, BC). In 1971 he retired and they moved to White Rock, BC.
Clarence and Irene had five children; Margory, now living in White Rock, who spent twenty-two years in Africa as a missionary; Jean of Stavely; Robert of Penticton, BC; Elmer in Fort Nelson, BC all born in the Strathmore district; and Marvin, born in High River and living there. There are twelve grandchildren.
