     1ST MARRIAGE: William Due first married Emeline Jane FINLEY.
     The Finley family originally lived near Bowling Green, KY. "The name 'Due' probably came into the Garriott family through marriage into the 'Dhu' family from Virginia, before the Garriott's moved westward. [Ruth Thayer Ravenscroft] They had three children:

     According to Ruth Thayer Ravenscroft, the Catherine on the tombstone is a Finley-- not Haines. The following three children are listed on ancestry.com as belonging to Hulda, but according to that same document, were all born while he was married to Catherine. All three were listed in William's estate settlement:
06----ZACHARIAS S GARRIOTT [b. 1850; d. before 1960- age 10], a ZS Garriott is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery-dates unknown;


06----JAMES M GARRIOTT [b. 1852]; and
06----FRANKLIN P GARRIOTT [b. 1854; d. before Apr 1860- age 6].

     Huldah Harrod was a sister to the Dr Jeptha Revelle Harrod who married Amanda Hawkins.

     1838 LAND PURCHASE: [Government Land Office, Doc# 12681, pg 146, dated 15 Aug 1838, Jeffersonville, IN] William Deu Garriott of Wash Co, IN purchased 40 acres [SE4 SE4 Section 19 T3N R6E] in Wash Co, IN from the government, by Martin Van Buren, President.
    1841 LAND PURCHASE: [Government Land Office, Doc# 15545, pg 007, dated 9 Jan 1841, Jeffersonville, IN] William Deu Garriott of Wash Co, IN purchased 40 acres [NE4 SE4 Section 19 T3N R6E] in Wash Co, IN from the government, by Martin Van Buren, President.
    1952 LAND PURCHASE: [Government Land Office Doc# 23308, pg 184, dated 1 Jul 1852, Jeffersonville, IN] William D Garriott of Wash Co, IN purchased 32.27 acres [NE4 NW4 Section 30 T3N R6E] in Wash Co, IN from the government, by Millard Fillmore, President.
     1852 LAND SALE: [Wash Co, IN Deed Bk, dated 4 Jun 1852] William D Garriott and Catherine, his wife, sold 160 acres in Wash Co, IN to Felix G Watkins on 4 Jun 1852.

    1860 ESTATE SETTLEMENT: [Wash Co, IN Circuit Court: Bk C/331, dated Wednesday, April 18th, A.D. 1860]:
    "On proof of heirship in the estate of William D Garriott, decd. it is proven to the satisfaction of the court that Hulda Garriott is the widow of said decedent and that Simeon F, Nancy M, Mary C, Zacharias S, James M, and Franklin P Garriott are all the children and heirs of said decedent. And it is further shown to the court that said Franklin P Garriott and Zacharias S Garriott have deceased since their father said William D.
    "It is therefore ordered by the court that of the money paid into court for the heirs of said decedent to wit: Eleven Hundred and eight four dollars & thirty six cents that said widow is entitled to receive one third of said sum to wit: Three hundred & ninety four dollars and seventy eight cents and one half the share of said Franklin P Garriott, dec. in all Four hundred and sixty dollars and fifty seven cents, and that each of said children are entitled to receive one fifth of the residue and one fourth of one half of the share of said Franklin P decd to wit: One hundred and eighty dollars and ninety four cents and the Clerk of this court is ordered to pay out to said heirs accordingly."
