     BIOGRAPHY: Francis was mentioned in his father's will and received part of the home farm which was the farm his father Simeon purchased in 1819. 22 Francis' 64-year-old widowed mother, Mary, lived with him in 1880 [Wash Co, IN census] along with Edgar B Sage 14- a servant, and John Roberts 62, an uncle.

     1939 OBITUARY: Francis "Frank" Garriott, like his father before him, made farming his occupation through life, and was the owner of 373 acres of "nicely improved" land. He attended Canton Normal School but was forced to withdraw when his father became ill. After the death of his father he remained at home with his mother and farmed the home farm. 24
     In 1884, he was trustee of Gibson Township and was serving as County Commissioner when the courthouse was built. His name, "Can still be seen on the building," [although this writer has been unable to locate it]. He helped to build the Mt Carmel United Brethren Church and was a charter member there. 7
     Mary Emily was a Franklin Township grade school teacher at the time of their marriage.
